                                                    been a significant boon to the United States and made many valuable contributions. Having said that, it follows that the object of this paper must be to generate controversy and  
                                                
                                                    thus lead to discussion of immigration. 	Some arguments can be made against immigration but they are narrow in scope. In their work, Dustmann and Preston investigate the question and find  
                                                
                                                    that there is a wide range of responses "to questions relating to perceived impact of immigrants on economic outcomes" (Dustmann and Preston 3). These authors developed a model that allows  
                                                
                                                    for "three factors in determining anti-immigrant feelings: labour [sic] market considerations, welfare considerations, and racial attitudes" (Dustmann and Preston 4). All three factors are important in determining why people object  
                                                
                                                    to immigrants, but the racial component is particularly important for those without a great deal of education. 	Dustmann and Preston wanted to broaden the inquiry to include factors relating not  
                                                
                                                    just to competition for jobs, but also to concerns about the burden of immigrants on public services and whether or not efficiency overall increases or decreases as people immigrate. They  
                                                
                                                    wanted to study the circumstances under which immigration benefits or harms different population groups, because that is the indicator on which most people base their reactions to immigrants (Dustmann and
