The mottoes are rather odd and it is clear that of course the gold casket is the best as it suggests that this choice will render a man whatever he wants versus the silver version where the promise is that one will simply get what one deserves. One is inclined to think of their own sins and perhaps contend that maybe they will not get much if they are not deserving. There is no clarity here. The consolation prize so to speak or the third casket contains a motto that is perhaps the most frightening which is that one has to give of ones self. Of course, on closer inspection, one would be inclined to ponder this last one. After all, some say it is better to give than to receive and such is the case with love. The levels of love may be thought of as gold, silver and slate. Gold is the level where there is a situation for a man where the girl loves him wholeheartedly. He gains a beautiful woman, a trophy wife, the woman a man desires, and that is enough. There is no attention to a give and take relationship nor discussion abut whether or not he loves her or she loves him. Like gold, or money, this type of love is superficial. After all, the idea that "you cant take it with you" looms large over these caskets. One should be careful what they wish ...
