his favorite basketball star, Michael Jordan. Billy knew that Michael made a lot of money and could do anything in the world he wanted with it. He also
liked the fact that Michael was so popular that people knew him everywhere he traveled. To Billy, that was what it meant to be a hero. However, he
began to notice that all his favorite players were getting in trouble with the law, like Yankee slugger Darryl Strawberry, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth and Baltimore Ravens linebacker
Ray Lewis. As puzzled as Billy was over all the commotion, he understood that his heroes were doing things they should not be doing, which is why they were
getting into trouble. What is it that people look for when they seek out heroes and icons? Some search for characteristics with
which they can identify, while others probe for traits the represent the person they would most like to emulate. Whether money, fame and material wealth is indicative of hero
