The abortion debate is characterized by two camps of argument. These camps are the Pro-Choice croup
and the Pro-Life camp. The intent of this paper is to argue that if the position held by the pro-choice camp, the argument that a woman should have the
right to control her own body, is valid then why wouldnt that position be equally as valid regarding the use of drugs or engaging in prostitution? Laws exist that
forbid these activities as well and these laws are at least as restrictive in terms of what a woman can and cant do with her body. Furthermore, this paper
will ask why do pro-lifers insist on gauging what does and does not constitute life in a way that is different than how we determine what constitutes the expiration of
life? The presence or absence of brain waves is a critical factor in this latter determination. Why shouldnt it be the critical factor in determining whether or not
a human embryo is a living entity? The thesis must be presented that the arguments presented by the pro-choice camp are, by nature, invalid.
