Indeed, this river is as much a part of Egyptian life and culture as anything, and its importance in Egyptian life will likely continue well into the future. The Importance of the Nile in Egyptian Life "The Nile River has been Egypts lifeline for millenniums, fertilizing the narrow strip of land along its bank with a deposit of silt after each annual inundation - now controlled by the High Dam at Aswan" (The River Nile). This noble and historical river has shaped the lives of Pharaohs, nobles and lesser mortals alike, affecting each regardless of societal rank (The River Nile). From the beginning, the Nile River has been associated with life and fertility (The River Nile). The Nile is what allowed Egypt to form and prosper, as it laid the foundation for prosperity for Egyptians (The River Nile). Fortunately, the tendency in Egypt throughout history has been one of great appreciation for this river and the life which it supports (The River Nile).
