For example, in some places winter just presents temperatures that are a few degrees cooler than normal, or perhaps more tropical storms, while in other places snow storms and blizzards rage in the winter. The following paper examines the seasons of spring and fall, comparing and contrasting the two. Spring and Fall Spring is the season that comes after winter and in many regions is the time when things begin to warm up. As spring develops there are less and less freezing temperatures and the ground thaws. Plants begin to emerge and trees that are deciduous begin to grow new leaves as well as flowers. In some places this is also when planting is done for crops or simple gardens. It is generally seen as the season of new growth, planting seeds, and the birthing of new animals. The season of fall is, in many ways, the exact opposite. It is the time when the leaves on trees begin to change color and then fall off, ending their season or cycle of growth. It is a time when crops and gardens see the end of their harvest as they end their life cycle before winter. The weather does essentially the opposite and the freezing weather begins to slowly build, causing freezes at night, and generally chilling the ground on its way into winter. These two seasons are perhaps far more similar, in terms of the focus of a cycle, than are summer and winter. In summer things just continue to grow while in winter everything remains asleep.
