focus of the Koran is Gods relationship with humans (Poonawala 2006; Belt, 2002). It is believed the word of God was revealed to Muhammad, a prophet, through the angel Gabriel in about 610 AD (Poonawala 2006). This concept is found in the first verse to be discussed: "We have revealed the Koran with the Truth, and with the Truth it has come down. We have sent you forth only to proclaim good news and to give warning" (17:106; your page 205). Here we find that the Word was revealed gradually over time to Mohammed. This verse also suggests what has been revealed is intended to enlighten the people and also to warn them of the consequences of disobeying. The Koran professes one true God, Allah. People are commanded to serve this one God and no other: "Serve no other deity besides God, lest you should be cast into Hell, condemned and rejected" (17:39, your page 200). Belief in only one God is one of the Six Beliefs of Islam (Smith, 1995). This verse states that if a person believes in any other idol, they will spend eternity in Hell, rejected by the one true God. The Koran teaches that Allah created everything in the universe in perfect harmony and it instructs people to accept Gods sovereignty and to submit to Gods will (Poonawala 2006). If God created everything, then, it follows that everything belongs to God. This is the premise that is expressed in the first part of this verse: "Surely to God belongs what the heavens and the earth contain. He has knowledge of all your thoughts and actions.
