Abuse The Child: Physical Indicators The Child: Behavioral Indicators Adult: Parent or Guardian Physical Jennifers manner has changed dramatically. Formerly outgoing and social, she no longer carries a cheerful expression on her face. Jennifer has appeared with a swollen, red cheek and what appears to be a black eye. Jennifer has become increasingly withdrawn and uncommunicative, and makes excuses when asked about obvious physical injury. She claims that her black eye resulted from falling, a common response from those who have been physically abused. Jennifer also has become aggressive with other children, another point that is out of character for her. Jennifers mothers attitude has changed as well. Formerly affectionate with her daughter, mother Amy has become rather withdrawn herself. Tom, Amys boyfriend, is gruff and abrupt with Jennifer.
