In short, pregnancy, labor, and delivery are somewhat predictable, to a point. In the following paper we provide a brief overview of the process, discussing pregnancy, labor and delivery. The paper presents some of the possibilities inherently possessed by this process. Pregnancy As most of us know, pregnancy begins when an egg is fertilized by a sperm and then attaches itself to the wall of the womans uterus. "Conception is the moment at which the sperm penetrates the ovum. Once fertilized it is called a zygote, until it reaches the uterus 3-4 days later" (Anonymous Development of the Embryo and Fetus fetal.html). Interestingly enough, there are some women who seem to know right away that they have conceived. They begin to feel differently, perhaps having odd dreams or sensations. But, for many the conception is not known about until testing is performed or until they miss their menstrual cycle. During the first trimester, approximately the first three months of pregnancy, the fetus grows with little indication on the outside. For example, in the 6th week, "The embryo is about 1/5 of an inch in length. A primitive heart is beating" and the"Head, mouth, liver, and intestines begin to take shape" (Anonymous Development of the Embryo and Fetus fetal.html). Four weeks later the "embryo is now about 1 inch in length. Facial features, limbs, hands feet fingers and toes become apparent" and "The nervous system is responsive and many of the internal organs begin to function" (Anonymous Development of the Embryo and Fetus fetal.html).
