ETHICAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER COUNTRIES There exist a number of elements within the boundaries of multinational businesses and government relations. Companies that employ such "growing diversity" (Tung, 1996, PG) open themselves up to a combination of cross-national and intra-national concerns unique to their particular situations. As the Coca-Cola Company found when entering the business market in Venezuela, establishing a positive working relationship between government and multinational businesses is of critical importance, as this is fundamental to the continuation of future diversity. The factors that contribute to this blending of relations include a number of various applications: * Globalization of industries; * Formation of global strategic alliances; * Quantum advances in telecommunications and data processing; * Organizational restructuring; * Growing diversity in the domestic workforce; and * Increasing mobility of the workforce across international boundaries (Tung, 1996, PG). Government relations with multinational businesses also depend a great deal upon the ability to "balance the conflicting demands of global integration versus local responsiveness" (Tung, 1996, PG); establish diverse industrial backgrounds; and develop a core of competency. McDonalds Corporation has found that in expanding to other countries not all relationships are dealt with in the same manner, as there exists a multitude of variations between and among individual multinational businesses.
