at the rights presented are the way the revolutionaries looked at the rights. We think that our freedoms are laid out exactly as the forefathers had planned. But, realistically, what
we see and experience today could not possibly have been foreseen over two hundred years ago. What those revolutionaries imagined was a system of approach that would aid them in
their times and "hopefully" prove to be beneficial for generations to come. In addition, when we think of these "revolutionary" minds we often merely imagine that they were revolutionaries
because they were trying to break free of British rule. We do not stop to consider why they were actually deemed to be revolutionaries. In the Declaration of Independence, however,
if we look closely with an understanding of the times, we how and why their ideals were considered to be truly revolutionary for the times. Revolutionary Thought At
the time it was constructed the Declarations focus on such things as inalienable rights was a very controversial and revolutionary ideal. Most governments and the people within the society of
the governments believed that the rights were granted by the government. People, by themselves, had no rights without the say of the government. The government was not the protector of
the peoples rights, so to speak, but rather the people were controlled and ruled by the government. In this particular line of thought, the Declaration indicated that the people
had rights that had nothing to do with the government and this was surely a very revolutionary thought at the time. Again, today we take that reality for granted, but
people during the time of the Declaration, despite their knowledge of philosophy, did not see the possibilities that were being presented by these revolutionary men. Perhaps they felt that by
