                                                    artist went to school for engineering but would quickly change his major to graphic design2. His first work in school "was a poster publicizing Alphorns Anarchy issue for which he  
                                                
                                                    persuaded fellow students to lie down in the playground in the shape of the letter A and photographed them from the school roof3." Sagmeister was still in Austria for a  
                                                
                                                    time, and so he did not immediately move to New York City. When he was nineteen years old, he moved to Vienna to attempt to get into a prestigious art  
                                                
                                                    school called the University of Applied Arts4. It was not easy. He was rejected at first and he did admit that most of the other students were better at drawing  
                                                
                                                    than he was5. Of course, mere drawing talent does not make an artist. 	Sagmeister would get into the school of his choice eventually and then would design posters for theater  
                                                
                                                    groups; he landed these jobs because he knew someone involved in theater6. He would soon be recognized for his talent. In 1987, he won a Fulbright scholarship to the Pratt  
                                                
                                                    Institute in New York, but he would have to go back to Austria afterwards for military service7. He did not want to go back to Austria but military service was  
                                                
                                                    required; because he was a conscientious objector, he would be able to do community work just outside of Vienna8. 	Sagmeister worked in Austria for a time and then joined Leo  
                                                
                                                    Burnett in Hong Kong where he designed a controversial poster; tiring of Hong Kong, he wanted to work in New York and after much persuasion would get M&Co to sponsor
