reviewing a performance, it is important to examine cultural aspects. This way, one can compare the performance to the heritage from which it emerges. What is it that provides the
Russian people with the wherewithal to engage in artistic activity? After all, in this cold region, that had seemingly lost the cold war, and witnessed the collapse of communism, it
is a state that has had a difficult political past. Still, its artists have shined. They have made a name for themselves. Haller (2004) reports on a very important part
