A 10 page discussion of the variety of problems facing the youth worker in today’s complex environment and the variety of approaches which can be taken to address those problems. Today’s youth are disenchanted with the status quo, they yearn for something different and something invigorating. As a result they often rebel against the standardized educational programs which have been in place for generations as well as other aspects of their environment. Youth leadership can take the form of academic outreach programs which are designed to motivate youth and to prepare them for college, or it can take a variety of other forms. These programs can make a tremendously positive impact on youth. Bibliography lists 12 sources.
