What people know about the Trojan War comes primarily from Homers works, The Iliad and The Odyssey, as well as "the works of the Epic Cycle" (Gill, 2008). The following
paper examines the Trojan War. The Trojan War "The Trojan War has its roots in the marriage between Peleus and Thetis,
a sea-goddess. Peleus and Thetis had not invited Eris, the goddess of discord, to their marriage and the outraged goddess stormed into the wedding banquet and threw a golden apple
onto the table" (Stanford, 2008). Eris stated that the apply belonged to the most beautiful and Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera all grabbed for the apple (Stanford, 2008). However, Zeus stated
that the prince of Troy, Paris, the most beautiful of men, would be judge in relationship to who was the most beautiful (Stanford, 2008).
It should be noted that the legend of Paris begins with his birth when his sister, Cassandra, a woman of great power and vision, told her father (Priam)
