any given day. The underlying meaning is apparent to all who read the words and hear what Frost was trying to convey. In the "literal" scene Frost has come to a fork in the road. He sees that one is more traveled as the path is more worn and the leaves are more trampled upon, while the other is less traveled and the grass is fresh and green. The idea that a road more traveled gets chosen more, thereby making it a road for more common and conforming people to travel is a solid one. Obviously the regular person who does what the world expects him to is going to chose the path of least resistance and the road that has been traveled by many more before him. In the figurative scene the speaker has made a decision long ago about what path to take in his life. The path actually has nothing to do with and actual and physical fork in a road but is more about the choices we make regarding the way we are going to live our lives. The poem is actually used to convey the speakers decision to take the road that was not as well traveled. The grass being green and not trampled tells the reader that few people coming to that crossroad chose the less traveled road. The speaker tells the reader of his decision to take the less traveled road and when he gets to the end of the poem he sighs. At the end the speakers mood is one of wistful thinking.
