                                                    convenient, the euro has not united Europe as some thought it would. Conspicuously absent from this new model is Britain. Not all European nations joined, but many have. Of course,  
                                                
                                                    that is only one point. The euro fared well originally, but now the dollar is doing better. In the scheme of things, it seems as if the euro has had  
                                                
                                                    some problems and its future is uncertain. A look at the history of the euro can help to shed light on this subject.    II. The Introduction of  
                                                
                                                    the Euro  	By now, most of the world is familiar with the new European currency called the euro. It all started in 1957 when a treaty was made to  
                                                
                                                    bond European countries to create a single market force ("History of the euro," 2006). In 1986, the Single European Act was passed along with the Treaty on European Union in  
                                                
                                                    1992, and soon thereafter the EMU would create the foundations for the single currency ("History of the euro," 2006). On January 1, 1999, the third stage of the EMU would  
                                                
                                                    commence and participating currencies had been introduced ("History of the euro," 2006). The euro, on that date, became a legal and viable currency and eleven member states would participate ("History  
                                                
                                                    of the euro," 2006). There were notable exceptions, like Britain.  	In 2001, Greece would join as well and that would make twelve member nations in all("History of the euro,"
