clearly still an important part of the history of Britain and the surrounding area. The following paper provides an overview of the history of the Celts. The Celts
The Celts are actually a group of people that used to occupy the area from Gallatia to the British Isles (Who were the
Celts?, 2008). This particular culture "had many dealings with other cultures that bordered the lands occupied by these peoples, and even though there is no written record of the Celts
stemming from their own documents, we can piece together a fair picture of them from archeological evidence as well as historical accounts from other cultures" (Who were the Celts?, 2008).
About 400 BC there was written records, in Northern Italy, of what is believed to be the Celts (Who were the Celts?, 2008). In these records it seems that "a
previously unknown group of barbarians came down from the Alps and displaced the Etruscans from the fertile Po valley" (Who were the Celts?, 2008). This was essentially the displacement that
would put an end to the Etruscan peoples prominence (Who were the Celts?, 2008). It is also believed that shortly thereafter the Roman Empire came in contact with the
Celts in this region of Po (Who were the Celts?, 2008). At the same time one must understand that this culture was
