II. DREAMS In Interpretation of Dreams, Freud suggests many revolutionary theories that later become the cornerstone of his fundamental principles. Of all the issues addressed in his book, one of the most significant comes in the form of inquiries: What is mind? Do we have completely control of our actions? Do we really know ourselves? After posing these questions, the author turns his attention toward a more philosophical concern wondering that if we cannot even control our actions, are we still responsible for what transpires? Freud is effective in validating that "the moral nature of man persists even in dreams" (Freud, 1983, p. PG). This theory can be applied, for example, to a dream that takes place in the middle of the day when many things are going on at the same time, such as phones ringing, people asking questions, background noise at a blaring pitch. All of a sudden the individual is stunned motionless by the realization that she has not fed or watered the animals (dogs, rabbits, or any number of other species that change from dream to dream) for the last several days. Fearing them dead, she rushes from whatever it is that she is doing and makes haste to reach the caged and defenseless creatures.
