Self completing questionnaires are limited, as they will often be closed questions, even open questions will often get limited answers. The use of structured interviews will allow for a greater depth of information to be gathered; this requires more resources, but is more aligned with qualitative data collection (Ritchie and Lewis, 2003). Using the structured interview a set of questions needs to be developed with an understanding of the aim of each question to facilitate the asking of the question and ability of the interviewer to prompt the respondent (Denscombe, 2010). A questionnaire has been designed to assess the effectiveness of IT strategy in facilitating patient care in a healthcare organization, with the sample made up of the organizations management. The first few questions will help with categorising the different respondents, identifying the different types of users and their relevant personal use of IT. The paper then goes on to assess the use and value of the systems. 1. What is you job title and responsibilities? This is a classification questions, it is important for the analysis to know which managers have been questioned. In the analysis the sample may be divided into different manager types, such as medical and non medical managers.
