Chick-fil-A stands out from other fast food restaurants. Not only does it offer a healthier menu, but its owners and employees have an eclectic view of life, which they share
with customers. After forty-two years in business, Chick-fil-A realized $3.2 billion in sales in 2009, despite the recession. It has an innovative television ad showing angus cows in a field
telling viwers to "Eat mor chikin" (Cathy, Bingham & Galagan, 2010). Every time a new Chick-Fil-A opens, it gives away a full years of free eats for a year to
its first 100 customers, so people dress up and camp out in the parking lot for a run at the chance. Dan
Cathy, owner, says that he keeps the company fluid by keeping bank loans low and so " it wasnt the catastrophic event that it was for others who were so
tightly leveraged that they didnt have enough financial elasticity to get through this" (Cathy, Bingham & Galagan, 2010). Cathy says he was much more interested in keeping the business all
the way through, rather than leveraging it to become the biggest fast food chain. He talks about scalability and leverage as ideas
from the industrial era, where today, the only way to leverage a business is to have and develop new and great ideas. The
