MIS has the potential to improve decision making at the administrative level and to improve student academic achievement at the classroom level. It will not do either if the system is not used. MIS and ICT have been focal points in the UK for a number of years. The question is: are these systems being used. A great deal of money has been spent bringing technology into the schools but if the technology is not being used, it is a wasteful expenditure. There may be many reasons the system is not used, for instance, staff members might not know how to take full advantage of these tools. In a worse case scenario, staff members who should have access to the system do not. This report will look at one schools use of the systems. Procedures to Complete Report: 1. Review theories of MIS as they relate to schools. 2. Identify the existing management information systems at the school. 3. Identify staff members who have access to the system. 4. Identify staff members who should have access to the system. 5. Conduct a survey to determine: a. The level of use of the system. b. How effectively the system is being used. 6. Make recommendations for improvements to the system, where appropriate. 7. Identify, and make recommendations for, greater efficiency of the system.
