Essay / Research Paper Abstract

15 pages in length. Mahatma Gandhi has long been considered a saint among men, inasmuch he and his life's work represented all that is benevolent and compassionate on this planet. His efforts to ease physical and emotional pain, accept people as they are and make one's existence that much more tolerable have become mantras for myriad people. His ideological and teaching influences were significant – Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita – yet his influence upon the world was just as strong. Even so, he never claimed to be anything more than a simple man with normal abilities no different than any other human being; however, he noted that the primary difference was he put his abilities to work for him and his people, while most merely accept their lot in life without appealing to a higher spirituality.
