Essay / Research Paper Abstract

A 13 page paper discussing the airborne and space-based antiballistic lasers. The military engagements that the US has been involved in over the past decade have highlighted to the American people the advances that technology has introduced into combat and defense. One of the most promising developments for the future, the airborne laser, still is in development. Scheduled for testing in 2004, the antiballistic tool is controversial, but not nearly so much as its counterpart, the space-based laser. Each of these defense lasers were being researched simultaneously, but work on the space-based version recently was halted indefinitely. Both approaches to laser technology, however, illustrate the depth in which US defense is being assessed. Bibliography lists 13 sources.
