Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). The ethical code from AIHA is based on the code from ABIH (AIHA, 2011). AIHA code I, A.1. states members should "comply with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards governing professional practice of industrial hygiene and related activities" (AIHA, 2007). AIHA II.C.2 states that members must inform appropriate governmental bodies of any violation of legal or regulatory requirements (AIHA, 2007). ABIH Code I.A.1 states that members must comply with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards in their practice (ABIH, 2007). Jill is a senior OSH professional and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), which means that she is an industrial hygiene professional who is responsible for preventing occupational illnesses (ABIH, n.d.). Her dilemma is a conflict of interest. One the one hand, her performance evaluations have been poor at TOP Consulting, her employer. If she submits a negative report regarding Ace Technologies, Ace could go bankrupt and she could lose her job. Pauls dilemma is that he and Jill are friends and he actually performed the testing and knows that the air samples violate regulations. Jill changes the process and tells Paul she will write the report instead of him. Paul is bound to the coeds of ethics and to laws and regulations. So is Jill but she must make a decision to do something she thinks will protect her job or to honor the ethical codes and the laws by submitting a truthful and accurate report.
