to be involved in criminal behavior there is no doubt that women are also involved, even if it is to a lesser extent. Generally speaking people understand that a persons environment has a great deal to do with their criminal behavior as well as their likelihood in becoming involved in criminal behavior. But, in the case of women it is only recently that true investigative studies have enlightened people about the conditions many women (young girls and young women) experience that ultimately lead to criminal involvement. The following paper offers a review of a book that discusses and examines this topic; In Her Own Words: Womens Views on Crime and Victimization, edited by Alarid and Cromwell. In Her Own Words This particular work is actually an anthology, a compilation of many different articles, essays, and research findings. It is a work that examines women from all walks of life, and women from various cultures. As would well be understood this work is not all inclusive for no work can truly obtain all the information available nor can it accurately assess all information available on such a complex topic. The main topic of the book, however, is simply to bring to the surface, to bring to the publics attention, the varied experiences and perspectives of women who have become involved in crime. In essence it appears as though the authors, the editors, simply wish to enlighten people and demonstrate that women are generally involved in crime because, in most cases, they have been victimized their entire lives.
