let their children play outside and did not really know where they were. Today, people are able to reach their friends at a moments notice. They can text them or call them and will receive a timely response. No more voicemail messages sit at home while someone is on vacation. Cell phone technology has changed the way people live. Similarly, parents can keep tabs on their children not only through GPS phone technology, but simply by being able to speak to their children directly whenever the urge strikes. In the past, children would have to find a public telephone-something that is quickly becoming a thing of the past-but today, mothers and fathers can call their children and find out where they are. This on some level creates an element of safety and aids convenience. Even for adults today, it is unthinkable to take a car ride without the cell. After all, if the car breaks down, or there is an accident, the cell phone provides a measure of connectivity. Aside from being able to get in touch with loved ones quickly and know where they are, how has the cell phone changed social behavior? It seems that the cell phone has dramatically shifted the way that human beings interact. They call for minor things. Rather than wait for someone to arrive home, or to simply figure out something for ones self, people make calls to their significant others as well as other family members who are on the road. This has created a scenario where people are constantly in touch. At the same time, it has created a situation where people no longer have to catch up at the end of the day.
