The controversial award of the Nobel Peace Prize, to Al Gore1 in 2007 as a result of the work to fight global warming has helped to raise the public awareness. However, the issue of environmentalism was not new, and environmental issues; not only those of global warming, but issues of pollution, harm to wild life and a plethora of other environmental issues have been known within the business environment for some time. Literature and research has been published looking at different aspects of environmentalism within business management. The trend has been for an increased acceptance that business will need to become more environmentally aware if they wish to survive. A great deal of research considers this from the perspective of the stakeholders, especially secondary stakeholders in the wider environment (Chyssides and Kaler, 1998). Literature on corporate governance looks at approaches along with ethics and moral, concerning what the duty of a business is, and whether it is their responsibility to consider environmental issues which are not controlled by legislation. The concept of environmental issues creating business opportunities has been one of the least studied areas, with an emphasis on new business sectors created, such as companies specialising in cleaning pollution and manufacturing of clean up equipment (Chyssides and Kaler, 1998). An interesting book that has been put together, which deals with all of these areas is that of Environmental Management and Business Strategy, Leadership skills for the 21st century by Bruce W.
