A 7 page paper that explains distributed cognition, a framework developed by Hutchins and colleagues in the late 1980s. This approach to cognition departs from the traditional cognition theories in that it takes into account the interactions between and among people and artifacts, i.e., tools/technology. In fact, this concept holds that cognition occurs as a result of these interactions as opposed to the traditional view that looks only at cognition in terms of the individual.
