a type of group program designed to bring juvenile delinquency into check, are becoming a more and more common topic in criminal justice circles. This is no wonder given that juvenile delinquency is increasing at a phenomenal rate in this country. Over just the next decade, in fact, the nations juvenile population is projected to radically increase. The number of juveniles arrested for violent crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault are included in this growth but so too are lesser crimes such as burglary or even shoplifting. Numerous approaches have been made toward rectifying the situation we are currently experiencing. Some include imprisonment under conditions which differ very little from adult punishment. Other types of juvenile programs include therapeutic techniques such as vocational training, victim/offender reconciliation tactics and numerous other approaches at reducing juvenile crime and effecting the eventual entry of the youth into adulthood as a productive, non-violent individual. Boot camps, however, seem to provide one of the most promising means of addressing juvenile delinquency. Cutting edge correctional facilities all over the country are incorporating boot camps into their correctional programs (Ginis, 2004). Unfortunately, the United States is becoming a more and more violent and aggressive environment for todays youth. According to statistics, murders, assaults, rapes and robberies occur every few seconds. This fact is scary enough when one thinks about these violent crimes as being directed at, and committed by, adults. It is even scarier when one considers that many of the victims and perpetrators of violent crimes are children and that not only is this number growing on a daily basis but it is increasingly more common for these crimes to happen within the confines ...
