company culture that drives the business. Best Buy Co., Inc. is an example worthy of study if one wants to gain a sense of how a company can effectively use
in-market expansion, and an appeal to expertise to promote company values of customer service and providing the "best buy" through exclusive offerings and low prices. In this paragraph, the
student is helped to provide a comprehensive view of Best Buys operations over the last decade. In order to analyze Best Buys actions in light of effect on their current
corporate performance, its best to have a quick overview of what the company has been doing lately. During the fiscal year of 2009, Best Buy was able to pull in
more than 45 billion US dollars in revenue, placing it at the very top of the heap as far as electronics direct sales go (Datamonitor 2009, p. 3). This comes
at the end of a period of strategic acquisitions by the company, beginning with the purchase of Magnolia Hi-Fi in 2001 (a move that gave them immediate access to a
broad upscale customer base), and continuing with the purchase of Future Shop (to move into the Canadian market), the integration of the private company Geek Squad in order to provide
in-house expert service in 2003, and most recently, the expansion into Asian markets with the purchase of Jiangsu Five Star Appliances (Datamonitor 2009, p. 3).
