leadership and success has been central to their aim in support of the academic community. My desire to be a part of something greater than myself and to make
a difference in the lives of others have led to my hope of becoming an Alpha Phi Alpha man. The student must put some of their personal experiences
in this section of their essay. The following are only examples of what might be done using fabricated information. During my high school years, I was
an active part of the academic community. I participated in a variety of organizations, including the athletic boosters and student council. I viewed academics as one part of
my educational experience; I learned from my parents that education can take place in many different places and through exposure to varied cultures, different ways of life, and different methods
of interaction. As a result, I found value in experiences through my church, as a part of athletic teams, and through interactions with other students from other schools.
The transition from high school to college has been challenging and Ive found myself seeking guidance in making difficult choices. Ive recognized that my capacity for development as
a student, as an African American male and as a scholar of the world requires an understanding of the events in history that have brought us to where we are
today. As a result, Ive found that researching the history of the American Civil Rights Movement and the history of the United States response has been enlightening. I
