was concerned, began with The Bantu Education Act of 1953 which created an even larger rift between the level of education between whites and blacks. WHITE EDUCATION In complete contrast to the black education and apartheid was the white educational systems in Africa. These schools were among the best in the world it would seem, since the government spent millions of dollars in obtaining the best teachers from all over the world to come and teach the white students in Africa. The overall philosophy was that the white students would go on to be successful leaders and as such should be given every opportunity educationally so that they would become educated leaders. BLACK EDUCATION Per-capita government spending on black education slipped to one-tenth of spending on whites in the 1970s. Black schools had inferior facilities, teachers, and textbooks. The curriculum was also differentiated on racial lines so that the distinctive groups could be prepared for the jobs they were meant to take up. CONCLUSION When one nationality sets out to conquer another nationality it seldom calls it by its proper name. Apartheid was an abstract thought which in essence really meant colonization. This suppression of the African culture, this denial of educational and economic opportunities were simply all designed for the obtaining of one goal: white supremacy over the majority black population in South Africa. INTRODUCTION: Each country has numerous acts which it wishes it could erase from its national history. Many nations are still making reparations, rebuilding, and reclaiming the damage that was done during some of the more shameful episodes in history.
