by magic and ultimately seeking love no matter what. It begins with two powerful figures who are presumably married and in love, and then sets out to confuse all the
players in love. The following paper examines how love is a force that people will always seek out no matter how foolish they seem. A Midsummers Night Dream
The play itself is set around a marriage and the need for entertainment during this wedding. This couple, Theseus and Hippolyta, appear to be
greatly in love and at a point in their relationship where nothing is going to go wrong for them because they are marrying. But, all other characters, either already married
or in love, are going to demonstrate a great deal of chaotic truths concerning love and their desire for love. For example, Oberon, the king of the fairies, and his
queen Titania, are a married couple and one would assume they love one another. Titania grows jealous, however, of Oberons obsession with a young Indian and so Oberon is angered
and plans to play a trick on her: "Ill watch Titania when she is asleep,/ And drop the liquor of it in her eyes" (Shakespeare II ii). This is a
sign of love for the two, likely having been together for a long time, demonstrate that love is by no means unchanging and without its weaknesses. This is clearly indicated
in the fact that trick he wishes to play on his wife will be played on other characters instead. Love is ultimately
also very fickle for many people. Oberon and Titania are examples of how love, even when old and perhaps strong, is fickle and is not all consuming as it is
