Supporting Schools, Charities and Rewarding Fans SAN FRANCISCO, CA - February 22, 2008 Following the decision by John and Denise York, owners of the San Francisco 49ers to move
the team to Santa Clara the team is set to demonstrate its commitment to its new home by becoming the community.
The schedule of community action for the 2008 season includes visiting Santa Clara High School, Wilcox, and Cabrillo Middle School where there will be a football signing and workshops designed
to teach children the importance of healthy diet and fitness. The team will organize a field trip for the Santa Clara School providing a practice day for the students.
In May 2008 the team is schedules to work with the City Team Ministries providing practical help serving food to the homeless, to support the workshops with speakers provided to
the development and job empowerment programs and funding a resume writing service one a month. Other charities within the Sanata Clara community that will receive support in the 2008
season include the Second Harvest Food Bank with financial and practical support, the Cancer Charity with the team undertaking the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in June 2008 with the
target of raising $300,000 and work with the Bill Wilson House in August 2008 where free T-Shirts will be distributed and a Bill Wilson/49ers school scholarship will be announced.
Community programs and activities supported will include the involvement in the CC Day (Celebrating the City) in September 2008 and Harvest Day at Santa Clara Park as well as attendances
