it is free and equal women still find themselves battling in a mans world in the workplace, clearly challenging the notions of freedom and equality. The following paper examines how
discrimination of women in the workplace simply illustrates that while the nation is free and equal, in comparison to many other nations, there are still historical social foundations that must
change for true equality to exist. Women and Discrimination in the Workplace This nation was founded on, primarily, the ideals of men for economic and social gains. However,
women were right behind the men in arriving in the new land and beginning to establish a foundation. In many ways women were incredibly important in the early days of
this nation, and they were recognized as such. But, they were still women. Although men understood and acknowledge, and respected, the fact that women were a vital part of society
and the growth of the new land, they were not allowed particular freedoms. Women, however, did not seem too concerned with this for the most part because their role was
to help the society survive, not to gain positions of power. Womens work, however, was considered just as crucial as that of the work of men for without women the
men knew that they would not survive. They worked as teams. In addition, throughout history women in the United States have generally fought for the rights of others before
they actively fought for their own rights. They fought for the rights of children in the workplace, and in the field of education and health, long before they really became
