lessons for everyone. In the work Maximus in Catland by David Garrett Izzo there are many lessons that people can learn from the cats that are in charge of the
world. In the fantasy book geared for young adults and children, there is a world created where cats are large and in charge (Izzo, 2007). As the title suggests, the
world is run by cats but this is not a world inhabited only by cats as there are human beings too (Izzo, 2007). When all is said and done, the
cats are viewed as superior to the human beings who seem to be morally challenged. What is important to note here is that the work is not just for younger
people as older adults will enjoy the philosophical messages. A rather benign read with little controversial fare, this is a work that can be recommended to families to read together.
Conan Tigard (2009) reviewed this work as follows: "David Garrett Izzo spins a tale of giant cats that ruled the world with mysticism, honor and courage. I found these cats
to be everything I wished humans could be today. What a wonderful world it would be if these giant cats really did exist. Overall, I would have to say that
this is a very good story and can be read by young adults and adults both." This reviewer does agree that the book may be enjoyed be people of all
ages, but it is also noted that the book exemplifies humanity in an idealistic fashion. Obviously, the cats are symbolic of what human beings can be. In some way, this
