Outline Plan of the Historical Investigation The purpose of this paper is to analyze that question, to examine the literature for the purpose of finding a definitive answer as to which of these great men could be considered the most successful. Space constraints, unfortunately, do not allow an exhaustive search. Instead only four sources can be reviewed and a more extensive consideration conducted of only one of those sources. Sources will be located utilizing traditional library-based research techniques supplemented by the capabilities of online databases such as Electric Library. Documents will be selected from those returned using such search terms as "Bolschevik Revolution", Lenin, and Trotsky. Both books and articles will be considered for this review. A Summary of Evidence Very briefly, the documents reviewed as a part of this historical investigation have proven enlightening in regard to the question of who was the most influential in the success of the Bolshevik Revolution, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin or Leon Trotsky. Although Trotsky was a close collaborator of Lenin and quite accomplished in inspiring the Russian people and organizing their revolution, Lenin proved time and time again that it was he that was the most powerful leader. Trotskys primary claim to fame was his ability to turn raw recruits into polished soldiers. Lenins was his ability to manage many complex aspects of the revolution.
