others. They are effective for many reasons, information that is presented visually is easier to interpret and is more likely to remember that information that is only communicated verbally or
in text as the graphics makes it easier to recall. In addition to this the use if a graphical presentation can also be a very effective way of presenting large
amounts of data in an effective manner, for example, if we image a graph that shows the way share process have moved over a five year period on one line
and compares this, on the same graph to the performance of the stock market as a whole, this is communicating a lot more data than could be communicated in
the same volume of text, it shows the e tire pattern over five years and is comparing it directly with the pattern of the stock market, which also allows the
correlation to be seen, if there is one, or shows that there is no correlation. If this were not presented in a graph then the same data may be presented
in a table and summarised but the same level of detail would not be as apparent and there may also need to be a larger level of involvement from the
reader to gain the same value from the data (Harris, 2000). There are a number of different types of graphs and charts that can be used, by choosing the best
