the people and they are judged by whether or not they were conceived in the best possible way. In this world, those born in a natural manner, and who may have genetic flaws, are treated as pariahs. Although this film is science fiction, this and other works of art demonstrate the problem of human nature and how people can become stigmatized by their genetic makeup. The questions raised by such inquiries certainly creates a paradigm in which to view the problems cloning threatens. David & Kirkhope (2005) downplay fears of human cloning. However, the serious problems it would create for society are obvious. One problem is again the stigma that would accompany the cloned individuals. With a variety of methods of tampering with human genetics in society, the clone will take on a particular aura and intrigue. Aside from that, there are horrific possibilities that could come out of mass cloning, such as what is seen in the film Gattaca. That is, the society might be stratified by yet another demographic. It just might become a society of cloned individuals versus those born the natural way. There might even be another level of individuals who are born to be genetically superior, or a genetically superior clone set. There might be a great deal more young women who look like models. In fact, just like Hitler wanted to create a master race with people who looked a certain way-blond hair and blue eyes-it would not be out of the realm of possibility that those cloned will be attractive. With the preponderance of people looking good in the future, as opposed to just being average, the model type will be common. The important sociological question is, what will become of the others?
