This is a 7 page paper discussing the rise to power by Adolf Hitler. Hitler first became prominent during his time in the German army in World War I. After the war he became a member of the German Workers’ Party in which is rose in its ranks to eventually become the leader and renaming the party the National Socialist German Workers Party, the NAZI Party. Despite being thrown in prison for several years because of an attempted coup, Hitler used the time to write his famed “Mein Kampf” which envisioned his Third Reich soon to become a reality after his release. Originally assigned to report on the German Workers Party by the German army, Hitler soon came to realize that not only did he support their cause but he was also a natural speaker and leader in their cause. Under his leadership, the party was renamed the National Socialist German Workers Party, the NAZI Party. Despite being thrown in prison for several years because of an attempted coup, Hitler used the time to write his famed "Mein Kampf" which envisioned his Third Reich soon to become a reality after his release. Born in 1889, little did we know that this son of an Austrian customs officer would become the most powerful man in Germany. His mother died in 1907 and after his father died in 1912, he moved from Austria to Bavaria where he hoped to become an artist (Sedivy, 2002). During his time in Bavaria, he was sent his draft notice for World War I which he claimed he never received and was sent back to Austria for dodging the draft. After failing his physical exam for the army in Austria, Hitler returned to Bavaria and enlisted in the German army for the duration of World War I. During the war, Hitler was twice awarded the Iron Cross for his bravery as a messenger on the Western Front. During October of 1918, he was blinded by poisonous gas and was still recovering during the signing of the Armistice (Sedivy, 2002).
