there is a sense that life and death, and health issues, supersede most other factors. Such considerations surpass political ideology. Someone who finds themselves in need of services that their
insurance company refuses may feel compelled to take extraordinary steps. Politics go out the window and such individuals are thrust into survival mode. This idea was exhibited in the recent
film called John Q. where the protagonist tries to save his son when the insurance company refuses to cover a procedure that could save his life. By hijacking the hospital,
this desperate man brings to forth notions of decency. What is a good society if it does not treat every human life with the same respect as another? At the
crux of the issue, and all health care issues, is money and social class. While the ideology behind John Q. is such that one would think all would agree with
the mans position, the truth is that the world does not work exactly like that. While it is true that Welfare mothers may have better dental care for example than
a woman who is a member of the working poor , the truth is that the wealthy really get the benefit of state of the art technology. Their lives will
be saved above the others. It is somewhat like the scenario when the Titanic went down and first class passengers were the first to access the life rafts. Similarly, with
the current state of affairs and the incredible escalation in health care costs, the U.S. is the Titanic and those who benefit most are those with the most
money. While home health care may not appear to be pertinent when discussing life and death situations--as most see the hospital setting as most conducive to life-saving -- home care
