"metrology," it appears that a misspelling has taken place, and someone is trying to talk about the atmosphere or the weather. In reality this is not a new word at all, but rather relates to a competent and prosperous industry. If you were not aware that this industry even existed, do not be surprised, many dont. However, when we stop to think about it, it does make sense. Who is it that measures the "measurers?" Market characteristics Definition: In this world of vast technology, many instruments used are set to "industry standards." We accept the phrase, not quite knowing what is involved, but assuming that someone is "taking care of it all." When we look at our own assumptions, we are forced to laugh at ourselves. What? We thought there was a giant gauge in the sky, which took care of all the other little gages? It would appear that this is one of those, ignorance is bliss issues, or at least it could be, until something breaks, or needs to be standardized.
