Of course, in most cases like this, the parents are usually the first suspected of the crime. Yet, after many interviews and combing through all the evidence, the Ramseys are not considered suspects by most. In fact, a recent update on a newsmagazine show reports that there is a suspicious character living close by, and that he had attended a vigil for Jon Benet and that it is quite possible that he was involved. Yet, there is little progress on the puzzling murder and no suspects. The case is still unsolved. The facts of the case are gruesome. Little Jon Benet was tied up. A garrote was used in her strangulation and there was evidence of sexual abuse. Although unrelated, the disappearance of Laci Peterson and Jon Benets murder apparently each occurred on Christmas Eve and to date, neither crime is solved. Laci was perhaps killed by her husband, or it could have been a cult. Jon Benet was thought to have been likely killed by one or both parents or an intruder. The Ramseys do not seem to be suspects after many years of lingering doubt. Still, the timing is curious as Christmas Eve is a time that is usually associated with family. When a murder occurs, many questions are raised. The Ramseys were likely suspects. After all, who could put their daughter to sleep in her own bed only to find her missing the next day? The home was locked up. Surely, someone would have heard a noise. Also, there was only scant evidence of forced entry.
