Globalization is a term which was previously only used in regards to certain industries such as the oil or automotive industries and has since becomes widely used in regards to the effect the communication and media industry has had on the world. The process of globalization through the media and communications industries has become largely possible through the new digital media technology which has allowed for the process of globalization to become more accessible and affordable. The close link with the computer has also opened up the process of globalization to include the information industry which is now available to anyone with access to the Internet. This access not only expedites the process larger companies need to expand into international businesses but also allows for smaller companies and individuals to have access to international opportunities. Because of this, many media and communication companies have become multi-tiered to offer all components available in the digital age. In addition, developing countries have found that the affordability of digital technology has allowed for them to become international players in the communication market allowing for the globalization process to expand to areas previously unaffected by progress.
