Well meaning, the older generation often thinks that picking a baby up too often will spoil him. Many doctors concur, although there is an emerging movement that considers the babys feelings as opposed to the parents. There is the position that babies and children need all of their needs met and that it is the fault of the parent that does not do this. For example, when the baby cries, he or she should be picked up. To do otherwise is cruel.
