In the years prior to the revolt it is noted that during the 15th century Catalonia society experienced many different crises that were related
to the black plague (Vallverdu, 1989; 26). This allowed other threats to come in and make changes as "an economic and political crisis" also took place when "the dynasty of
the House of Barcelona came to an end. The Crown of Aragon passed to rulers of Castillan origin" (Vallverdu, 1989; 26). At the end of the 15th century political alliances
altered as Ferdinand and Isabella, the monarchs of the Catholic reign, allowed for a unification of the kingdom of Aragon and Castile (Vallverdu, 1989; 26).
Another aspect of this history proves revealing when one author indicates that "The miraculous chapter of Spains rise to greatness was confirmed by the extraordinary speed
with which it had been achieved" (Elliott, 1984; 1). In essence, Spain, largely due to the power and location of Barcelona, had become one of the most powerful realms of
