Yet this essential structure has confounded many with its wide variety of diverse forms and confusing complexities and has been the root cause of many a shudder when it came to the mastering of the language structure known as grammar. Language is a form of communication composed of three primary elements, these elements being defined as alphabet, vocabulary, and sentences (Watt http://www.stir.ac.uk/ Departments/HumanSciences/Psychology/4612/Watt/Lecture6/). Grammar is a term that is used to describe the varying elements that make up the basic structure of this language, and forms a basic set of rules that dictates how the elements of language will fuse together to form first words, then sentences in a manner that is accepted as standardized. This structure is composed of the basic four elements of patterns, phrases, recursion and transformation (Watt http://www.stir.ac.uk/Departments/HumanSciences/ Psychology/4612/Watt/Lecture6/). This basic structure begins with the sounds that are formed by the alphabet, and these sounds are commonly known as phonetics. When these sounds are combined in varying structures and sequences, they form words or partial words that are commonly known as morphemes and have been referred to by some as the "atoms of linguistic form" (Centre for Linguistics http://www.ai.univie.ac.at/~harald/morphology. html). It is fitting to refer to these words and partial words as the atoms of linguistics, for they do, in fact, form the basic building blocks upon which the grammatical process is erected. II.
