simply introducing information technology into an organization is not sufficient to reap all the benefits of that technology. In fact, it is all too easy for an organization to be
hindered by the presence of information technology due to poorly managing the integration and use of such systems by employees. For instance, suppose that one were a task manager at
a large customer service corporation of some 1000 employees. Within ones individual department are some twenty-five employees, all of whom interface with the companys information technology on a regular basis.
However, it has recently come to light that the past year has evidenced a sharp decline in the ability of employees to use and manage the technology being used in
the organization, to the extent that production is being impacted. Leaders expect department managers to improve technology management within a six month period. This paper will explore how such a
task might be carried out. This paragraph helps the student begin to address some of the issues associated with technology management. Clearly, information technology is meant to increase efficiency and
productivity in an organization, not decrease it. Therefore, it is essential that certain steps be taken. The first point to recognize is that technology management is an enterprise-wide concern, and
that an effective approach to facilitating superior adoption and integration of technology involves efforts in project management, quality control, and training (Krospu-Vehkapera, Haapasalo, & Rusanen, 2009). In other words, it
will not do simply to increase training initiatives, but employees must also buy-in to the new technology at the cultural level. Of course, the first step is to ensure
