are welcome, but the business will concentrate on providing home health care to those over the age of 65. Unlike the new technology or service that may or may
not have a market, home health care is a service that always has a market of some size. The business is a proven one, one that has been documented
for years as being successful - or at least carrying the potential for success. As with any other business, the proof of success is in the bottom line.
Management of the business and of targeting appropriate customer segments can prove to be the defining point of success or failure. Description of the Business
There appear to be only three private home health agencies serving the area (Frederick, 2005); public health agencies and local hospice organizations may also offer home health services
when patients meet organizations criteria. Frederick County holds nearly 19,000 people over the age of 65, however (DP-1, 2001). It appears that the area is grossly underserved in
the home health segment of local health care. Owners The owners are two registered nurses (RNs), only one of whom will be an
active part of the business for the first two years of the business existence. Ownership will be in the degree of 30-70, with the active owner owning 70 percent
